First and foremost I want to congratulate Spain on their first star! Andres Iniesta scored in the 116th minute to capture Spains first World Cup title. Kudos my dear Spanish friends! Although you seem to have a knack for kicking out my country's team and have actually managed to kick out every team that I was rooting for this World Cup, I salute you Espãna! VIVA LA ROJA!!! España Campeona del Mundo!!!!

After a long ride you can call the trophy your own. Now you reign over the world, but we are patiently waiting for you 4 years in the future, breathing on your neck. In 1426 days the Cup will be back on German soil.
But now it is time to linger again…
As we will all do for the long four years until it is again time to rise to our full potential…
We spend more time anticipating the World cup than we spend enjoying it.
One month in four years is just not enough.
But is it worth it or what?
The last 30 days have been exhilarating. Every day we had something to celebrate, to mourn or to be mad about.
The World Cup is an emotional rollercoaster ride, and this year's edition has been a prime example.
- The drama off the pitch was just as intense as the action on it. The war of words started days before the match and escalated to an extent where I had to start learning Spanish for the sole reason of fending off Argentine Smack talking towards my team.
- There was the curse of the Nike's "Write the Future" commercial, which, like some say, rendered our most celebrated Football Idols virtually powerless.
- Also, the psychic Octopus Paul, which predicted every match correctly, is now facing countless death/dinner threats.
- Some of the strongest and highly regarded teams weren't able to even advance out of the Group stage or got bounced out in the round of the 16
- Some of the Referees went haywire and caused so much controversy in the tournament that even the most old-fashioned Football fans are considering instant replay to be established in the game.
- We went from WTF is a Vuvuzu…-what the hell is this buzzing noise to I hate it when I'm at a Vuvuzela concert and people start playing football!
Was this World Cup usual?
- Hell no!!
Was it entertaining?
- Sir Yes Sir!!

This must have been my personal favorite so far.
Yes, it would have been a lot better if Germany had won, but it was a wild ride and sometimes seemed like it was a scripted TV-Show and not an international sports tournament.
The World Cup is most definitely the greatest Sports Event in the World and anybody that questions that (Yes, I mean you Americans) can just quit whining and turn the TV off…
Which leads me to a topic that never ceases to fascinate me:
the majority of US-Americans do not understand what Football is all about (or Soccer I guess).
Nor do they have any intention of opening their minds to it.
Therefore they are missing out on all that we love so much all around the globe.
Why do you not want to be part of this USA?
I don't understand how this Nation can excel at every freaking sport out there and suck so much in Football/Soccer.
There is a start, maybe because you don't call it by its real name??
Why does the average American hate Football (I mean Soccer)?
- They didn't invent it.
- The offside rule is just too damn hard to understand.
- Football is boring. They rather watch Golf.
Is this true my American friends?
This kinda stuff keeps you from enjoying the passion and the drama of a good Football match?
The heartbreak and the sorrow when your team loses…
Football is war and love and hate and ecstasy…
Every nation around the planet understands and indulges that.
WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO BE PART OF IT?!?!?
My point is: I think it's incredibly sad that most Americans frown upon Football and are missing out on this.
I will always consider Football my favorite sport and I am super-stoked that ESPN finally owns all the rights to Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premier League and will stream every match online on ESPN Soccernet.
For all of us that breathe, live and love Football:
For now it is over.
We will go into hibernation or PWCD (Post World Cup Depression) until the light on the horizon will begin to sparkle a little brighter around this time in 2012 for the UEFA Euro Championships…
Then we will know we are half way there and we will wave our flags and sing our chants for another month that will seem like a long overdue prelude to the long anticipated 2014 World Cup, which, as of today, is still 1425 days away…
